How to Wear Different Types of Earrings

Earrings come in a wide variety of designs so when deciding which type to wear can be hard. Choosing which earrings with your outfit is a skill in itself. Should you choose studs or dangly earrings? Hoops or drop earrings?

We have outlined a few tips to give you ideas on how to wear each type and have also given some examples of what we offer at KORYANGS.

Stud Earrings:

Stud earrings are a great go-to for everyday wear. Simple stud earrings can complement most outfits as they are not loud and do not distract from your outfit.

Stud earrings can be paired with simple casual outfits or more minimalist elegant outfits. As these earrings are ‘quiet’, pairing with other forms of accessories can bring more dynamic to the overall look. Adding a delicate necklace or some rings can enhance the outfit. Similarly, studs can be paired with a much bolder statement necklace, bracelet stacks or ring stacks.

Our Yoona earrings are a great example of minimalist stud earrings that can add some flavour to your look.

Drop Earrings

The main feature of the earring design dropping slightly below the earlobe. Another characteristic of drop earrings is that they may swing depending on the design but it is not a defining characteristic. Drop earrings can be secured to your ear with posts or hooks. Some may prefer drop earrings with hooks as they are more comfortable when sleeping compared to post secured earrings which may dig into your skin. However, we recommend you remove all jewellery before sleeping to keep your jewellery safe.

Drop earrings are so versatile that you can wear them either to dress up or dress down. Our Yong earrings are a great option you can wear with a casual outfit or with a more formal outfit as it is both simplistic yet classy.

Dangle Earrings

Dangle earrings generally hang further below the earlobe and they tend to swing back and forth with your head movement. Dangle earrings can bring more character to outfits as they can draw attention to you face and neckline. Because there is so much variety in style with dangle earrings, there will always be something you can match to your style. You can opt for big and bold, or smaller and simpler dangle earrings.

Our Jia earrings are the perfect example of simple dangle earrings which add a touch of elegance to any outfit.

When wearing bigger and bolder dangle earrings, they tend to be the main focal point of your outfit. Generally, we suggest you leave these as your only jewellery shoulder up to avoid distraction and wear rings or bracelets if you wish to wear other accessories.

Hoop Earrings

If we are talking about timeless earring designs, hoop earrings take the top spot. They are the most iconic style which have been seen throughout history. There are several different types of hoop earrings to choose- from simple and classic to ornate and statement. Large hoop earrings can make a big statement and grab attention, in contrast, smaller and more subtle designs will add interest without overpowering the rest of the outfit.

We believe every woman (and man) should have at least one pair of simple hoop earrings. Ideally, these should be an investment so opt for those made from precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum. These metals are non-reactive and will last a very long time if properly cared for. For a more budget friendly option, you can choose sterling silver plated/vermeiled in gold. These types are cheaper as the whole earring is not solid gold, making it a more affordable option.

Our Mi-Sun earrings are a great option of hoop earrings which are made with 925 sterling silver vermeiled in 18k gold. These hoop earrings are simplistic yet have a creative flare to the design. They’ll add some minimalistic but eye-catching sophistication and will work beautifully with casual outfits.

Why not experiment with wearing earrings from different pairs in different combinations.
